I was perusing the .TV forum on Namepros Saturday when I noticed that a member opened a thread regarding the proliferation of .TV domain names that are appearing on YouTube as part of a subscription service.
The veteran member also supplied a link to an article about YT’s plans (theregister.co.uk).
Popular .tv names such as Cars.TV, Comedy.TV, ES.TV, Pets.TV, Recipe.TV and the like were displayed prominently on YT.s paid channels page (youtube.com) and while it starts with 53 channels, it is almost a guarantee that the selections will expand
exponentially into a whole new techno-evolution and convergence of television/internet/mobile media.
Reading the thread gave me an idea with my humble assortment of .TV domain names and I picked a couple dozen from my portfolio I thought may fit for such a channel.
I am displaying this list along with a brief description of at least one option of what these names could contain for the viewer of these channels. Of course, these ideas and suggestions are just that, ideas that I basically had when I regged these names and the enduser who purchases any or all of these names may have already a definite idea of what they will present on the channel. Whatever benefit the domain name will possess for the enduser, I will be happy with as the name will have a presence and an audience and I will have a sale(s). Both sides win there.
So without any further ado, let’s check out my assortment of names that I felt would do well under the umbrella of the YouTube metamorphosis into subscription media services:
When I regged this I actually envisioned that this could be a channel that would contain tales and tributes to our men and women of the Armed Forces. The dedication of our service members could be a focus of many stories of heroism in the past and present.
I saw this as an opportunity for viewers to witness actual events of everyday life that are being captured on camera. I felt that the extension fit the name perfectly as the video-centric nature of candid experiences falls right into place with .TV.
This was a name that I never expected to see again. I had this name and traded it for other names. I forgotten about it and one day I saw it available again, like a prodigal son looking to come back home. I regged it, vowing never to let it go again unless cash money was involved the next time.
At any rate, this channel could relate the various sagas of the rugged members of an oft times criticized yet many times necessary profession. They do have something like this on television, so one more, with a profound keyword, is not going to hurt being on YT.
Had enough? I have absolutely no doubt that there is plenty of fodder around the world to select from for a series with a title like this.
I see that they have taken care of the cooking angle with Recipe.tv, but how many programs do you see on television that have cooking as its primary focus? Also, a popular name like “Homecooked.tv” has a charm to it that, to be honest, Recipe doesn’t have. Nothing personal, but “Recipe” sounds cold compared to the warmth and friendly sounding nature of “Homecooked.tv”. The name even sounds tasty.
